Salary: $24.25 per hour

Position Summary:

The Grand Forks County Correctional Center is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team as a Correctional Officer. This position is responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and welfare of inmates and staff in a correctional facility. No prior experience is necessary — we provide all required training. This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in beginning a career in corrections or law enforcement.

Essential Functions:

Monitor inmate behavior to prevent disturbances, assaults, and escapes.
Conduct regular security checks and headcounts.
Supervise inmate activities and enforce facility rules.
Respond to emergencies and maintain order in the facility.
Escort inmates to and from cells, recreation, medical, and court appointments.
Complete reports and maintain detailed logs of daily activities.
Perform searches of individuals and areas for contraband.
Participate in training and ongoing professional development.

Requirements:

High school graduate or GED and at least 18 years of age.
Ability to pass a thorough background investigation, including a medical and drug/alcohol screening.
Knowledge of dealing with people, multi-tasking, legalities of restricted environment, ability to successful pass licensing for Correctional Officer Certificate, and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Must have availability to work rotating shifts including days, nights, and weekends.
