GUIDELINES (a glimpse)
Minimum of a two-year degree in police science, criminal justice, or a related field, or
Must be 21 years or older at the time of employment
Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid State of Iowa Driver’s License
No felony convictions & no disqualifying criminal histories
U.S. citizen
Must be able to read & write the English language
Must be of good moral character & temperate

PAY & PROGRESSION
Start at $63,752
Hit $75,600 after one year

LATERAL TRANSFER POLICE OFFICERS
You already know how to do the job. We just won’t make you miserable doing it.

THE JOB
• Handle calls without five layers of approval.
• Use judgment without asking permission from three people not on scene.
• Do police work without apologizing for it afterward.

LATERAL PAY
$71,406 – $79,664
Additional raise July 2026
Up to 3 weeks vacation
(Enough time to recharge. Not enough to forget your radio number.)
Credit for experience — no starting over
